The Killer Bees went on an early power play chance, but it was the Bucks who capitalized as Kouba teed up a big slap shot as he cut down the left wing into the Rio Grande Valley zone for the Bucks 15th shorthanded goal of the season at 5:54. It was the 16th goal of the year for Kouba. With 6:36 to go in the period forward Steve Simoes delivered a big hit that shattered the glass on the left wall in the Bucks zone, the referee then suspended play with the period to be resumed after the first intermission in order to allow proper repair of the glass.

After the intermission the teams resumed play and finished the final 6:36 of the first period with no further scoring.

Early in the second the Bucks added to their lead. Forward James Hiebert slipped a beautiful drop pass to Grenville who snapped home a wrister at 1:03. It was the 17th of the season for Grenville. Laredo then increased their lead to 3-0 as Hiebert converted a one-timer on a feed from forward Brent Cullaton at 5:17 for his 15th of the year. The Killer Bees got on the scoreboard when defenseman Kurtis Dulle stickhandled in and scored at 9:05.

In the third period the Bucks pulled away. Grenville scored his second of the night when he finished off a two-on-one rush setup by forward Frank Lukes at 7:37 to make it 4-1. Just under six minutes later it was Kouba collecting his second of the game to push the lead to 5-1. With the crowd chanting for a free frosty from Wendy's, Cullaton got loose on a breakaway and lit the lamp at 15:31 for his 11th of the season to complete the scoring. FINAL SCORE Laredo 6, Rio Grande Valley 1.
