Youngstown SteelHounds News Release

Youngstown, OH. - The Youngstown SteelHounds (15-25-2) dropped their fifth straight game and their fifth game in five chances against the Memphis RiverKings (18-21-2) by a final score of 5-4 at the Chevrolet Centre. Don Parsons scored a pair of goals and had an assist as a back-and-forth third period saw Parsons earn the game winner with his sixth goal this week in the three-game series versus the Hounds. Joey Sewell scored a pair of goals and had an assist in his second game with the Hounds.

A very spirited and well played first period saw each team score a goal with great individual efforts by Mario Chinelli of Youngstown and Don Parsons of Memphis. The Hounds scored the first goal of the game with Chinelli picking off a pass inside his own blue line and going coast-to-coast eventually faking Michael Dilorenzo out of his skates scoring his second goal in as many nights and eighth of the season at the 9:20 mark. Memphis came back at the 13:03 mark with Don Parsons making a fantastic move around the Hounds defense and by Simon St. Pierre pushing the puck in for his 25th goal of the season, assisted by Taras Foremsky (his fifth point in the last three games). Youngstown outshot the Kings 15-11 in the period as Dilorenzo made 14 saves and St. Pierre made 10 saves in the period.

Once again in the second period, Memphis took control. In the four previous games, the RiverKings had outscored the Hounds 9-3 in the middle frame and on Saturday the Kings added two goals to that total. The first came off a great shot by Derek Landmesser who sniped a laser over the shoulder of St. Pierre for his 10th goal of the season (11th point of the season versus Hounds). Memphis added to the lead with a one-timer by Travis Banga who scored his 19th goal of the season. The Hounds once again outshot the Kings in the period 15-12.

The offense exploded in the third period for both clubs in a back-and-forth game. Chris Richards cut the lead to one with his 15th goal of the season assisted by Jeff Christian and Joey Sewell at the 8:09 mark. Just over a minute later the Hounds tied the game on the power play with Sewell redirecting a Richards pass for his first goal with the Hounds assisted by Richards and Kelly Sickavish at the 9:15 mark. Youngstown wasn't done with the offense as Sewell added his third point of the night with another goal giving Youngstown the lead. Simo Pulkki and Richards were credited with the assists at the 11:07 mark giving the Hounds 4-3 lead, but everything collapsed in the next 48 seconds as Ryan Watson and Don Parsons scored goals for the RiverKings regaining the lead at 5-4 which is where the game would finish. The Hounds outshot the Kings 10-3 in the period and finished the game on top of the shot board 40-26.

Dilorenzo made 36 saves winning for the fifth time in five games in Youngstown and improving his record to 9-4-1. St. Pierre made 21 saves falling to 4-7-0.

The Hounds hit the road for eight straight games away from the Chevy Centre beginning on Tuesday morning in Tulsa with a special 11:30 AM (EST) face-off.
