Bucks Add Outfielder to Roster

Waterloo, IA - The Waterloo Bucks have announced that outfielder Alex Boxwell has signed to play with the team for the 2015 season. Boxwell, a freshman from the University of Minnesota, is the 22nd player to be named to Waterloo's roster for the squad's 21st season.

This season for the Golden Gophers, Boxwell has played in 14 games, hitting .212. The 6'3", 185-pounder has one home run, four RBI, and owns a .303 slugging percentage.

"Alex comes to us highly recommended by former Bucks coach and current Minnesota assistant Patrick Casey," said Bucks General Manager Dan Corbin. "He's a young, scrappy player that will give us a quality bat from the left side of the plate and will run the bases well."

Born April 6, 1996, Boxwell is a native of Coon Rapids, Minnesota. Boxwell attended Coon Rapids High School where he was a Mr. Baseball finalist as a senior, hitting .506 with three homers and 10 stolen bases. Alex is the son of Bill and Lisa Boxwell.

The Bucks, the winningest team in all of summer-collegiate baseball over the past two years, will open the 2015 season on the road versus the Alexandria Blue Anchors on May 26, but return to Waterloo for their home opener versus the Mankato MoonDogs on May 28.
