Des Moines Buccaneers News Release

Urbandale (IA) The foundation for head coach Jon Rogger's first Des Moines Buccaneers' roster was set on Tuesday night when the team selected 18 players as part of the United States Hockey League's annual Entry Draft. All players with junior hockey eligibility were part of the selection pool with every USHL team making enough selections to bring their protected roster to 30.

The players drafted on Tuesday will join those who were selected in the Future's Draft on May 1st along with returning veterans and free agent invitees at the Buccaneers' tryout camp June 14-17 at Buccaneer Arena. After that weekend, Rogger and his coaching staff will select players to invite to training camp beginning in September where the final roster will ultimately be selected before the season opener September 28th.

Rogger, who will be in his first season as head coach of the Buccaneers, was present in Des Moines for the draft despite still serving as an assistant for the Green Bay Gamblers who play a decisive fifth game in the Clark Cup Finals Wednesday night. After driving from Wisconsin on Monday, Rogger left shortly after the draft to return to Green Bay in preparation for the series finale. The USHL Futures
