Portland Thunder News Release
PORTLAND - Portland Thunder Jack linebacker Bryce Peila has been voted AFL MVP for Week 3 of the 2015 Arena Football League season.
Peila (6-1, 205, Western Oregon) swung the momentum back in Portland's favor with two third quarter defensive touchdowns in the Thunder's 47-43 victory over the Spokane Shock in Week 3. The second-year pro recorded his first pick-six of the season to open the second half, returning a Danny Southwick interception 46 yards for a score. On the ensuing possession, Peila scooped up a fumbled snap and found the end zone once again for a three-yard touchdown.
Fans had 24 hours to vote for the AFL MVP award on ArenaFootball.com. Peila won a tightly contested race, beating out fellow candidates J.J. Raterink of the Las Vegas Outlaws and Brandon Thompkins of the Orlando Predators.
The Portland Thunder will hit the road for the first time in 2015, as they travel to Arizona to take on the three-time defending champion Rattlers on April 18th, from the Talking Stick Resort Arena. Kickoff is set for 6:00pm PDT, and fans can listen to the game on 750 THE GAME, or watch live on the WatchESPN app.
