Bruno Lapa Wins Fan's Choice Award, Team MVP

October 26, 2020 - United Soccer League Championship (USL) - Birmingham Legion FC News Release

BIRMINGHAM, AL - Birmingham Legion FC today announced that midfielder Bruno Lapa has been named the Fan's Choice award winner and the team MVP for the 2020 USL Championship season. Members of Legion FC's official supporter's group, the Magic City Brigade, voted on the Fan's Choice Award, and the Team MVP was voted on by Legion FC's players and staff.

Lapa, 23, burst onto the scene this year, starting all 17 matches for Birmingham in his rookie season. He went on to lead the team in chances created (35) and in shots (26), tie for the team lead in assists (5), and finish second in goals (8). Only one other player in the USL Championship this season tallied up at least eight goals and five assists - the reigning league MVP, Phoenix Rising's Solomon Asante.

The midfielder kicked off his professional career with a two goal, one assist performance against Tim Howard and rival club Memphis 901 FC on his way to earning USL Championship Player of the Week honors, as well.

The rest of Legion FC's 2020 Award winners include Neco Brett for Golden Boot, Jonny Dean as Newcomer of the Year, and Alex Crognale as Defender of the Year.
