Austin Bruins News Release

AUSTIN, MN - The Bruins got their third sweep of the Aberdeen Wings this season with 3-2/OT and 4-1 wins at Riverside Arena this past weekend. With Minot and Bismarck splitting a home and home, the Bruins move back into first place in the Central Division, 2 points ahead of the Bobcats at 39.

On Friday, Austin rallied from a 2-1 third period deficit, tying the game on a Jade Miller even strength goal with under seven minutes remaining, and winning in overtime on Justin Misiak's tenth goal of the season. The Bruins killed off 1:48 of a 4-on-3 powerplay to start the OT before Misiak ended the game at the 2:31 mark.

The Bruins used a dominant first period on Saturday to complete the sweep as they scored three times in the opening frame. Michael Piehler and Gilbert Gabor notched powerplay goals, while defenseman Paul O'Connor scored at even strength. Misiak capped off a big weekend with a third period empty-netter to seal the game. Both Kris Carlson and Robbie Goor earned victories in between the pipes for the Bruins, who have now won all six head-to-head battles with Aberdeen this season, with still six remaining.

The Bruins will take on the Brookings Blizzard this weekend in a home-and-home starting Friday night at Riverside Arena at 7:05. Brookings currently holds a four point edge on the Minnesota Magicians for the fourth and final Central Division playoff spot. The Bruins swept them in a home-and-home on October 2nd and 3rd.
