Portland Lumberjax News Release
PORTLAND, March 5, 2007 - The National Lacrosse League (NLL) announced today that Portland LumberJax defenseman Bruce Alexander will be added to the Western Division All-Star line up as a reserve player for this weekend's game. Alexander is replacing Edmonton's Andrew Turner who will not play due to personal reasons. Since Turner was listed as a starter for the game, Arizona's Peter Lough will be moved into the starting line up for the West.
"It's a great honor to play with the best guys in the game of lacrosse," Alexander said. "It is assured to be a high-scoring game between the two teams."
Alexander has been in the NLL for the past seven years, but this weekend will mark his first appearance as an All-Star. Last season the Jax captain scored 12 goals, 33 assists for 45 points while collecting 42 looseballs. In 107 games, Alexander has netted 69 goals and assisted on 165 others for 234 points; the defenseman also racked up 297 looseballs.
Four players will represent the Jax on March 10 in the Rose Garden for the NLL All-Star Game. Jax forward Ryan Powell and defenders Alexander, Pat Jones and Richard Morgan are listed as reserves on the Western Division squad. This is the first All-Star Game for all four Jax players.
