
Brown Bears Swept Aside: Outlaws Atop the Standings

The North Iowa Outlaws pull out the brooms at the North Iowa Ice Arena on Saturday night, finishing off the weekend sweep of the Kenai River Brown Bears and moved atop the Central Division Standings. The Outlaws led by another high scoring effort from Bryant Skarda who knocked home 2 power plays goals and added two assist in the victory. Shea Walters recorded another multi point game, finishing with a goal a two assists. Tyler Romasco also picked up two points in an Outlaws 5-1 victory in front of Mason City's Austin Maginnis who turned aside 21 of 22 shots.
Kenai jumped out to an early lead, scoring 2:01 seconds into the game but that was all for the Brown Bears offense. Less then a minute later, Bryant Skarda scored on the power play to tie the game and head to the locker room knotted at one.
In the second, Joe Harcharik scored the eventual game winner, with Max Mobley and Kyrstian Dzuibinski tallying assists. Half way through the period, North Iowa broke the game wide open when Shea Walters scored his third goal of the weekend with Skarda and Romasco adding the help. Then Romasco got in on the scoring with some help from Skarda and Walter, both picking up their second assists on the night.
Finishing off the scoring was Skarda in the third period, with another power play tally with Brandon Larson and Kyle Politz assisting. On the blue line the Outlaws defense was strong in front of Austin Maginnis who turned aside 21 of 22 shots in his second game of the season. The Mason City native picked up his first win on the season and junior career. The Outlaws continue play next weekend with a series against the Fairbanks Ice Dogs at the North Iowa Ice Arena on Friday and Saturday night at 7:30 pm.
