Blizzard Fall 5-1 at Fargo

September 30, 2007 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Alexandria Blizzard News Release

FARGO, ND - The Alexandria Blizzard fired 55 shots at Fargo-Moorhead goalie Elliot Okland, had 13 powerplay opportunities, and controlled the majority of the territorial play. Still, it was not enough to snap the Blizzard's scoring drought.

As a result, the Jets earned a weekend sweep with a 5-1 victory at John Carlson Coliseum.

Among the highlights for the Blizzard was Jascha Pettit's first goal in junior hockey, Kyle Clement's KO of Fargo's Mark Johnson in a third-period brawl, and Alexandria's refusal to roll over and die.

Among the realities the Blizzard must now ponder until their next game in two weeks is a powerplay that is now 1-for-51 on the season, an abysmal 1.96 percent. In spite of numerous scoring opportunities and solid puck control, the man advantage unit was shut out again.

Matt Beggs took the loss in goal for the Blizzard, making 26 saves but dropping to 1-1 on the season. Okland stopped 54 for his fourth win. The victory raised Fargo's record to 4-2-0 while Alexandria dropped to 1-5-0. The Blizzard are idle until their home-opener weekend October 12-13 versus Alaska.
