Brookings Blizzard News Release
The Brookings Blizzard recently teamed up with Camelot Intermediate School to organize a food drive to gather items for the Brookings County Food Pantry. During the week of November 12th, the team challenged the school's fourth and fifth graders to see which class could gather the most items. At the end of the week the food was counted and Tyler Bolstad's fifth grade class was rewarded for collecting the most, over 350 items. The class was rewarded for their efforts with a pizza party with the Blizzard players and coaches. Papa Johns provided pizza.
Before the gathering in Mr. Bolstad's class, the team joined the other students on the playground during recess.
After the pizza party, the Blizzard team members gathered all of the items from the school and delivered them to the Brookings County Food Pantry at 217 4th St. in Brookings.
Beyond this effort, the organization also hosted a food drive at their pre-Thanksgiving game on Wednesday, November 21st. Fans who brought a non-perishable food item to the game received two dollars off their ticket price.
Overall, the team was able to collect over 3,500 items for the Brookings County Food Pantry.
