
Austin Beats the Blizzard 4-1

The Brookings Blizzard lost their third straight game to the Austin Buins 4-1 Wednesday night at the Larson Ice Center. Austin started strong again scoring twice in the first seven minutes. AJ Reid scored the first goal three minutes in on the power play, and Brandon Wahlin added his tenth of the year four minutes later. The Blizzard responded late in the first with a power play goal of their own to cut the lead to 2-1. Eric Brenk scored his eight of the season on an assist from Evan Hesse. Austin got the only goal of the second period with just two minutes left when Eason Vittala scored on the backhand. Austin owned the third period as well scoring five minutes in when Jay Dickman got his ninth of the season for a 4-1 lead. Austin goaltender Nicholas Lehr stymied the Blizzard in the third keeping them from making it a game. Lehr stopped 33 of 34 shots. Weigman stopped 33 of 37 for the Blizzard. Brookings (13-7) hosts Bismarck Friday night at 7pm.
