Broncos snap skid with win over Dillas

Laredo, TX-The Laredo Broncos belted out 15 hits as they beat the Amarillo Dillas by a score of 9-2 on Thursday night at Veterans Field. The Broncos head now for a crucial 3 game road trip against the Edinburg Coyotes starting on Friday. For more information you can call (956)-723-BASE (2273).

The Broncos would grab the lead in the 1st inning. With 1 out Anthony Bennett walked and went to 2nd when the Dillas starter Jesse Rodriguez's pick off throw got away. Matt Imwalle then was hit by a pitch. Edgard Clemente hit a double scoring Bennett and moving Imwalle to 3rd. Dwayne White then hit a rbi ground out scoring Imwalle and making the score 2-0.

The Broncos would tack on a run in the 3rd. With one out Edgard Clemente singled and went to 3rd when the throw in by right fielder Stephen Douglas got away. Dwayne White then followed with a rbi single making the score 3-0.

Laredo would extend their lead in the 5th inning. Sean Gamble led off the inning a single and went to 2nd on a single by Anthony Bennett. Matt Imwalle followed with a single scoring Gamble and moving Bennett to 2nd. With 1 out, Dwayne White walked to load the bases. Arnoldo Ponce then drove in Bennett with a single leaving the bases loaded. Josh Smith then came into the game for the Dillas and gave up a rbi single to Ivan Reyes scoring Imwalle and keeping the bases loaded. Josue Gonzalez then hit a sacrifice fly scoring White and making the score 7-0.

Mickey Callaway the Broncos starter would leave after 5 innings of work in line for the win. He gave 0 runs, on 3 hits, he walked 1 batter, and struck out 5. Maximo De La Cruz would come into the game in relief.

The Dillas would get on the scoreboard in the 6th inning. With 1 out Danny Bravo walked and went to 3rd on a double by AJ Johnson. Andrew Wong then hit a ball off the pitcher De La Cruz for an infield single scoring Bravo and moving Johnson to 3rd. Sam Mclain then hit a sacrifice fly scoring Johnson and making the score 7-2.

The Broncos would get a run back in their half of the 6th. With 1 out Anthony Bennett walked, and then scored on a double by Matt Imwalle. Then with 2 outs Dwayne White singled in Imwalle to give Laredo a 7 run lead again.

The Broncos bullpen of Maximo De La Cruz, Rusty Jones, and David Watkins would keep the Dillas offense quiet the rest of the night, as the Broncos took home the victory by a score of 9-2.

The Broncos scored 9 runs on 15 hits and committed 1 errors while the Dillas scored 2 runs on 5 hits and committed 2 errors.

The Broncos now improve to 37-44 on the season. Laredo is still 2 games back of final playoff spot as Edinburg beat Alexandria as well. The Broncos will be back in action on Friday when they play game 1 of the big 3 game series against the Coyotes in Edinburg.
