Broncos beaten badly in loss

Laredo, TX-The Laredo Broncos got roughed up against the Edinburg Coyotes at Edinburg Baseball Stadium by the score of 16-3 on Tuesday. The Broncos continue on their 6 game trip with the finale of a 3 game series against the Coyotes. For more information you can call (956)-723-BASE (2273).

The Coyotes would strike first in the game, in the bottom of the 1st inning. With one out, Gary Roche singled. Then Robert Matlock would follow with a double, advancing Roche to 3rd. The very next batter Daryl Jones singled scoring both Roche and Matlock. Jones would go to 2nd base on a passed ball by Luany Sanchez. After a groundout, moved Jones to 3rd, he would score on a single by Amado German making the score 3-0 Edinburg.

They Coyotes would really open up the game in the bottom of the 2nd. Edinburg would send 14 batters to the plate in the inning. They would get a rbi single by Eric Gonzalez, a rbi single by Gary Roche, a rbi single by Daryl Jones, a rbi walk to Mayobanex Santana, a 2 run single by Amado German, a rbi sacrifice fly by Logan Wood, and a rbi double to Eric Gonzalez. That would be it for Broncos starter Richard Barlett, as Justin Staatz would come into the game. The first man he faced Gary Roche reached base on an error by 3rd baseman Ben Tinius, which allowed 2 runs to score. Staatz would get Robert Matlock to fly out and end the inning with Edinburg leading 13-0.

Richard Bartlett would only last 1 1/3 innings for Laredo. He gave up 13 runs, 11 of which were earned on 9 hits. He walked 4 and struck out 2.

The Broncos would finally get on the scoreboard in the top of the 4th inning. Dwayne White led off the inning with a triple. Then Edgard Clemente hit an rbi single scoring White. Luany Sanchez would then reach base on a error by 1st baseman Robert Matlock and Clemente would go to 3rd. However, Sanchez did not realize that the ball got by Matlock and was tagged out by Matlock when he headed for the dugout thinking he was out. Then Matt Lawman would groundout, but Clemente would score. That would make the score 13-2.

The Coyotes would tack on another run in the bottom of the 4th inning. Staatz would walk Logan Wood, Alex Entrekin, and Angelo Fermin to load the bases. Then with one out, Gary Roche his a sacrifice fly scoring Wood. That would extend the Coyotes lead to 14-2.

Eric Padilla would hit a solo home run in the 5th inning for the Broncos, his 2nd of the season. That would make the score 14-3 Edinburg. Justin Staatz would then leave the game for reliever Rhett Barber.

Barber would pitch 2 scoreless innings for the Broncos. Rusty Jones would come in and also pitch a scoreless 7th inning. However the Broncos offense could not muster anything as they still trailed 14-3 going into the bottom of the 8th inning.

John Smith would come into the game for Laredo in that 8th inning and run into the same problems he had the game yesterday. Logan Wood walked to begin the inning. Then Alex Entrekin and Angelo Fermin hit back to back singles to load the bases. Eric Gonzalez then hit a 2 run double scoring both Wood and Entrekin. That would give the Coyotes a 13 run lead.

The Broncos would not do anything in the top of the 9th, as Eric Montoya pitched a complete game, as the Broncos lost to the Coyotes 16-3

The Broncos scored 3 runs on 5 hits and committed 2 errors, while the Coyotes scored 16 runs on 13 hits and committed 2 errors.

The Broncos now fall to 20-21 on the season. The Broncos will be back in action on Wednesday night when they play of a 3 game set against the Coyotes at 7:05.
