
Broncos Bats Continue to Stay Hot in Victory Over Aces

Alexandria, LA-The Laredo Broncos got back over the .500 mark with a 13-6 victory over the Alexandria Aces on Tuesday Night . The Broncos continue their 3 the Alexandria Aces with the middle game of a 2 game set on Wednesday Night. For more info call (956)-722-BASE (2273).
The Broncos struck first in the game in the top of the 3rd inning. Santiago Guerrero led off with a single and then stole 2nd base. After he advanced to third on a groundout Dwayne White singled and Guerrero scored giving Laredo the 1-0 lead.
Laredo would blow the game open in the top of the 4th inning. With one out Edgard Clemente singled. The next batter Jose Salas doubled over the centerfielders head scoring Clemente from 1st base. Ivan Reyes would follow with a double of his own to knock in Salas. After a fly out by Santiago Guerrero, newly signed Eric Padilla hit a double to score Reyes. Anthony Bennett would follow hitting a 2 run home run his second of the season making the score 6-0.
That inning would chase the Aces starter from the game Angel Guzman. He went 4 innings giving up 6 runs on 8 hits. He struck out 2 batters and walked none.
Broncos starter Gregorio Martinez was sailing right along through the first 4 innings but ran into trouble in the 5th. With one out Palmer Karr Jr. walked and then advanced to 2nd on a wild pitch. Selwyn Langaigne would follow with a double scoring Karr. Then after a groundout Homy Ovalles would single in Langaigne to make the score 6-2 Broncos after 5 innings of play.
Laredo would strike back in the top of the 6th inning. With one out Santiago Guerrero was hit by a pitch. He was then forced out at 2nd base on a ball hit by Eric Padilla who was safe at 1st. Then Anthony Bennett hit a ground ball to the shortstop who threw to the 2nd baseman Homy Ovalles who dropped the ball allowing Padilla to be safe at 2nd base. Dwayne White would then it a ball that the shortstop Albert Gonzalez would dive for and stop, but his throw to 2nd was late and all runners were safe making the bases loaded. They would not be loaded for long as Arnoldo Ponce would clear the bases with a double. Then Luany Sanchez would also double scoring Ponce from 2nd to give the Broncos a 10-2 lead.
The Aces would get some runs back in the bottom of the 7th. With one out and Robert Matlock on 1st Albert Gonzalez singled. Both runners advanced on a wild pitch and then Brian Sabatella singled in Matlock. Then with two outs and 0-2 count Madison Edwards was hit by a pitch. Palmer Karr Jr. would then crush a ball to deep to centerfield that appeared to leave the yard. But the ball came back on the field and base umpire Kate Sargeant ruled the ball in play and Karr Jr. ended up with a triple. Alexandria manager Ricky Vanasselberg came out and argued the call with Kate Sargeant and got ejected from the game. After all that Laredo still led by a score of 10-6.
That would do it for starter Gregorio Martinez who went 7 innings. He gave up 6 runs on 9 hits. He walked 4 and struck out 9.
The Laredo bats would get some more runs in the top of the 8th inning. With two outs Arnoldo Ponce would single. He would advance to 2nd on a wild pitch and score on a single by Luany Sanchez. The Aces would bring in a right hander Ryan Rockholt to face Edgard Clemente and Clemente would greet him rudely with a 2 run home run his 5th of the season to give the Broncos a 13-6 lead.
Nathan Crawford would come in and pitch two scoreless innings to close out the game and the Broncos a 13-6 victory. Broncos scored 13 runs on 15 hits and had no errors, while the Aces scored 6 runs on hits and committed 1 error.
The Broncos improve their record to 7-6 on the season. Laredo continues on their 9 game road trip with the 2nd game of the 3 game set against the Alexandria Aces on Wednesday night at 7:05.
