Frederick Keys News Release

Keys 2B Buck Britton had five-RBI's before many of the Lynchburg faithful had found their seats and the Keys hung on late to win 5-4 on Thursday night at City Stadium. The win is the eighth in the last nine for Frederick.

Britton got the Keys going before an out was recorded. CF Steve Bumbry walked to start the game and then Britton laced a line drive shot over the right field wall to put the Keys atop 2-0. An inning later with the bases loaded and two down, it was Britton again. This time Britton grounded a ball down the right-field line scoring all three baserunners to give Frederick a cozy 5-0 lead.

The Keys welcomed back starter Rick Zagone who shared the mantle, shutting down Lynchburg through six dominant innings of work. Zagone allowed just one hit in his return to the Carolina League.

Lynchburg was not done for however.

In the seventh inning Hillcats 3B Barrett Kleinknecht sent a two-out two-run home run to give his club life. Then in the ninth inning, RF Gerry Rodriguez hit a tape-measure home run to left field off of Keys closer Sean Gleason to close the Keys lead to 5-4.

Gleason settled down though to register his Carolina League leading eighth save of the year. The Keys have now won eight of nine as they head to Kinston for the second half of their six-game road trip.

Frederick will take on the KTribe with the opener, Friday May 13th at 6:30 p.m. The Keys will start RHP Ryan O'Shea with coverage beginning at 6:10 p.m. on 1450 AM The Source.

The Keys will return home for Bark in the Park Night presented by Crossroads Animal Referral and Emergency Monday, May 16th at 7:00 p.m. against the Potomac Nationals. For tickets contact the Keys Box Office at 1-877-8-GO-KEYS or purchase online at frederickkeys.com.
