Bristol White Sox News Release

The Bristol White Sox celebrated Military Appreciation Night July 3 at Boyce Cox Field with a pregame ceremony conducted by members of Rolling Thunder, Inc. The Sox also honored retired and active service members attending the game, all of whom were admitted free of charge, during the game.

"We were delighted to be able to honor the men and women who have bravely served and protected our country," said Mahlon Luttrell, President of Bristol Baseball, Incorporated and General Manager for the White Sox. "We are also grateful to the men and women with Rolling Thunder who installed the Missing Man chair at Boyce Cox Field last year and who conducted a very moving ceremony this year."

After the Sox game against the Johnson City Cardinals, fans were treated - at no extra cost - to a viewing of the movie "Moneyball" as the inaugural event of the Sox Movies at the Ballpark series.

The movie was shown on a 14' x 20' inflatable screen placed on the baseball field, with fans gathered in the reserved seats at Boyce Cox Field to view the Oscar-nominated film.

"The Sox and Bristol Baseball, Incorporated want to thank BVUOptinet for the use of their big screen and projector for this exciting movie series," said Luttrell. "With their help, we are able to offer additional entertainment to our fans. We hope that everyone can join us for the next movie, the classic "Field of Dreams," on Friday, August 17, after the Sox take on Pulaski."

The Bristol White Sox, also known as the Bristol Sox, are operated by Bristol Baseball, Incorporated, a non-profit organization operated by an all-volunteer Board which has no full-time paid staff.
