Brink Dominates And Biondi Breaks Out As Musketeers Soar Past Force
March 31, 2019 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Sioux City Musketeers News Release
SIOUX CITY, IA - The Musketeers were back at the Tyson Events Center on Sunday afternoon for the tenth and final matchup against the Fargo Force. To no surprise, this one was a tight all game long, but with the help of newcomer Blake Biondi and ANOTHER hat-trick by Bobby Brink the Musketeers took down the Force in overtime by a final score of 4-3.
It was Biondi who would get the Musketeers on the board first in this one. Parker Ford made an excellent dish to a wide open Biondi who wired one past Ryan Bischel for his first USHL goal to give the Musketeers a 1-0 lead at the 7:57 mark.
Fargo would respond with just over six minutes on a goal from Jeremy Davidson with the period eventually ending knotted at one.
The Force would be the only ones to find the back of the net in the 2nd period on a powerplay goal from Hank Crone at the 18:38 mark. The Musketeers would go into the locker room trailing 2-1, but once again the 3rd period would belong to Bobby Brink.
Brink tied the game with a powerplay blast just 44 seconds into the period for this 31st goal of the year. Luke Johnson had the assist on the play. Fargo responded right away with a goal from Justin Lee at the 1:17 to re-take the lead.
With just under 5 minutes to play in the game Blake Biondi made a tremendous backhand pass to a (somehow) wide open Brink who wasted no time sending it to the back of the net to tie the game at three. Neither team could find the deciding goal the rest of the 3rd period sending this one to overtime.
It overtime Brink, as he has been so many times this year, was the hero. Before Brink's goal Matt Miller put his body on the line and was the recipient of a nasty knee on knee hit from Hank Crone, giving the Musketeers a huge overtime powerplay opportunity.
It wasn't long before Pospisil found Brink in the high slot and with seemingly all his might he fired a slapshot past Bischel to give the Musketeers a huge 4-3 overtime victory.
Ben Kraws made 26 of 29 saves in the victory for Sioux City while Bischel stopped 28 of 32 for the Force.
It has been a truly incredible season for Brink who now has 33 goals and 57 points in just 40 games. Brink now sits at 3rd in the league with 1.55 goals per game, sitting behind Alex Turcotte and the consensus #1 pick Jack Hughes of the NTDP.
The Musketeers will now need to carry the momentum from this weekend into Waterloo with another big game against the Black Hawks on Tuesday night. Puck drop set for 7:05 pm and don't forget you can catch the action live at Castle Pub.
