Newark Bears News Release
NEWARK, N.J.-- As part of their continuing effort to connect with the community, the Newark Bears will once again take part in the Field of Dreams program, affording local youth sports teams the opportunity to rub elbows with professional baseball players.
Presented by Applegate Farms, the Field of Dreams program allows local youth to join Newark Bears players on the Bears & Eagles Riverfront Stadium playing surface prior to gametime, letting youngsters stand alongside Bears players during the National Anthem. Dressed in team uniform, youngsters participating in the program will also have the opportunity to get player autographs and run out onto the field with players as they are introduced. Teams looking to take part in the program must purchase a minimum of 30 tickets. For further information, contact the Bears ticket office at (973) 483-6900 or visit the team's online home at NewarkBears.com.
"As a youngster growing up, I always looked up to professional athletes," Bears Vice President/General Manager Chris Bryan said. "This program provides boys and girls the chance to interact with our players on a face to face basis. We're trying to create memories here and this program certainly goes a long way towards accomplishing this goal."
The Newark Bears compete in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, capturing the league title in 2002. The Atlantic League consists of eight teams in five different states and enters its sixth season of competition on May 1. The Bears 2003 Schedule and Season Ticket Packages for their Fifth Anniversary in the City of Newark have already been announced and can be viewed at www.NewarkBears.com.
