Briggs selected to All-AFL First Team

For the second consecutive season, Wranglers lineman Tom Briggs was selected for the All-AFL First Team.

Briggs completed the season third in the AFL with 8.5 sacks for a total loss of 42 yards, 25.5 total tackles, 20 solo, 10 quarterback hurries, six defended passes, three forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries.

With a career total of 37.5 sacks, Briggs is now fourth in the AFL record books for all-time AFL sack leaders.

Three Wranglers were also selected to the AFL All-Rookie team yesterday. Former Texas Longhorn standout Aaron Humphrey, Wranglers leading scorer Tacoma Fontaine and defensive specialist DeRon Jenkins all received honors for their 2004 performance.

Humphrey started in 12 games for the Wranglers accumulating 16.5 total tackles, 13 solo, three sacks for a loss of eight yards, four forced fumbles, three passes defended and one fumble recovery that he took into the endzone for a touchdown. In Fontaine's 13 games, 12 starts, the offensive specialist reeled in 72 receptions for a team-high 1,076 yards and 21 touchdowns. Fontaine rounded out his contributions with 25 kickoff returns for 375 yards and a team-high 41-yard return against Grand Rapids. A former NFL performer, Jenkins earned respect around the AFL adjusting to the indoor game playing in the middle of the backfield. Jenkins was 12th in the AFL in passes defended with 15, he also posted 64.5 total tackles and two interceptions on the season.
