Chicago Rush News Release

June 2, 2004 – Chicago Rush lineman John Moyer was named to the Arena Football League's All-Arena team, the AFL announced today. Moyer, the only player from the Central Division champion Rush voted to the team, was named First Team All-Arena for the second-consecutive season.

The Lineman of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year candidate led the AFL with 10 sacks and also recorded a career-high 31 tackles, blocked four kicks, recovered three fumbles and intercepted a pass. With his 10 sacks this season, Moyer increased his career total to 28, moving him into ninth place on the AFL's all-time sack list. The six-year veteran was named Second Team All-Arena in 2002 and First Team last season.

"John Moyer has been a leader on our defensive line since the day he arrived in Chicago three years ago," said Rush head coach Mike Hohensee. "The pressure that he and guys like James Baron put on the quarterback is the key to our defense. Moyer's added ability to block and pass protect also is a big reason why our offense has been so successful this year."

The Rush (11-5) returns to Allstate Arena to host the Orlando Predators (10-6) in an AFL quarterfinal playoff game Sunday, June 6, at 2 p.m. Fans wishing to purchase tickets to the game may order by calling Ticketmaster at (312) 559-1212, or by visiting the Ticketmaster Web site at www.ticketmaster.com. Tickets also may be purchased in person at any Ticketmaster outlet or the Allstate Arena box office.
