Colorado Crush News Release
Denver, Colo. - Colorado Crush offensive specialist Damian Harrell and defensive specialist Rashad Floyd have been named to the Arena Football League's 2004 All-Arena Second Team, it was announced today.
Harrell (6-3, 200, Florida State), in his sixth AFL season and second with the Crush, finished the regular season ranked third in the AFL in first downs (97), receiving yards (1,715), receiving TDs (43) and scoring (non-kickers) with 258 points. He also ranked fourth in the league in third-down receptions (19) and fifth in receptions (114). He had eight 100-yard receiving games, and scored at least three touchdowns in a game 10 times this season.
Floyd (5-10, 180, Portland State), who signed with the Crush as a free agent after two seasons with Orlando, set a new AFL single-season record by totaling 125.0 tackles this season. He outdistanced the second-leading tackler this season, Anthony Derricks of Indiana, by 32.0 tackles. He also led the league in tackle for a loss (5.5), ranked second in pass breakups (24), tied for third in interceptions (6) and tied for seventh in fumble recoveries (4). Floyd was named the AFL Defensive Player of the Month for March, and won weekly honors following Week 8.
Harrell and Floyd helped lead the Crush to an 11-5 season, tied for the best record in the league, and clinched the franchise's first playoff berth. The 11-win season, nine more than the 2-14 record in the Crush's inaugural season, marked the biggest turnaround in AFL history.
This marks the first time that a Crush player has been named to the All-Arena team.
