Brigadier General Yoo to Attend Sockers Game Vs. Tacoma Saturday

The San Diego Sockers will be honored to welcome Brigadier General Daniel D. Yoo, the Commanding General of the Western Recruiting Region and Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, to the Del Mar Arena as part of the Sockers' celebration of Military Appreciation Night on Saturday, December 17th, 2011. The Sockers will take on the Tacoma Stars in a 7:05 kickoff, which will be preceded by Brigadier General Yoo's appearance on the field to deliver the ceremonial "first kick".
"Military Appreciation Night is one of our most important nights of the year," said Sockers general manager John Kentera, "I have the greatest respect for the men and women serving in our armed forces and to have a great man like Brigadier General Yoo joining us will be a tremendous night for our organization and the people of San Diego."
The Sockers are distributing 500 free tickets to Saturday's game through the MCRD and Hall of Champions Youth Sports partnership for service members and their families. In addition to Brigadier General Yoo, the Sockers will honor Coach Master Sergeant Goodman as well as the Submarine Squadron 11 Chiefs from Naval Base Point Loma and Gina Woolgar, the Military Youth Sports Coordinator for the San Diego Hall of Champions and MCRD San Diego.
The Sockers are also teaming up with Promises2Kids and the San Diego Hall of Champions to hold a Holiday Toy Drive on Saturday night. Fans are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy to donate to Promises2Kids, which benefits abused and neglected children. Representatives from the Hall of Champions will be on hand to collect the toys.
