Rochester Brigade News Release

(Rochester N.Y.)- Rochester Brigade head coach Mark Saunders conducted his first open tryout of the 2003 season for quarterbacks, wide receivers and defensive backs on Friday, December 06. The daylong event attracted approximately 50 participants, with players traveling from Maryland, Ohio, New Jersey, Rhode Island and Boston.

"We saw a range of talent among the athletes and I was impressed with the competition on the field," stated Saunders. "We really got a feel for what these guys have to offer throughout the event."

The event was broken into a variety of situations, as players were tested in the 40-yard dash, the 20-yard shuttle and various drills for speed and agility. Coach Saunders then proceeded with an actual practice to execute one-on-ones and arena style formations.

"Running the athletes through a practice type tryout was a real test to see if they could adjust to the arena game and if they were really in shape...this year they got what they paid for," commented Saunders.

There will be a tryout conducted for linemen, linebackers and fullbacks on Friday, December 13, at the Total Sports Experience. Registration begins at 9:00 am, with tryouts starting promptly at 10:00 am and concluding at 3:00 pm.
