
Brigade agree to new deal with WR Mike Horacek

Kansas City Brigade News Release
10 year AFL veteran Mike Horacek has agreed to a modified two year extension with the Kansas City Brigade. Horacek signed with Kansas City as a free agent during the past off-season after spending three years as a member of the New York Dragons. On the season Horacek has 52 receptions for 730 yards and 15 total touchdowns. The Omaha native is one of five players all-time to score 250 touchdowns in the AFL. Horacek, who played his college ball at Iowa State, is ranked in the top six in AFL history in both receiving yards (11,487), and receptions (869).
Newest member of the Brigade
The Brigade family is happy to welcome its newest member. OL Ed Ta'amu is now a proud father of a baby boy. Alofa Tunoa Ta'Amu, who will go by Noa, was born at 6:49 pm at St. Luke's Hospital on Wednesday, May 28th. Noa weighed in at 7 lbs 13 oz and is 20 inches long.
Ta'Amu is a native of Hawaii and played his college football at the University of Utah. Before joining the Brigade, Ta'Amu was a fourth round draft pick of the Minnesota Vikings in the 2002 NFL Draft.

Brigade vs Rush
The Brigade (3-9) will be headed to the Windy City today as they prepare for a match-up against the American Conference leading Chicago Rush (9-3). During Week 7 the Brigade and Rush played on ESPN2 as part of the Monday Night Football schedule. Chicago defeated Kansas City 49-42 thanks to a late touchdown with six seconds left to play. Kansas City will rely on wide-outs Charles Frederick and Jerel Myers to expose the leagues third ranked defense. Chicago leads the all-time series 2-1. Kansas City is 0-1 at Allstate Arena. Kickoff is scheduled for Saturday, May 31st at 7:00 pm. The game can be heard live on Sports Radio 810 WHB with Chris Gervino and Stan Weber. Fox Sports Midwest will air the Brigade vs. Rush game on a tape delay at approximately 9:30 pm.
Playoff Picture
With only four weeks remaining in the 2008 AFL season the playoff race is heating up. Kansas City, currently 3-9, is tied for the sixth and final playoff spot with Grand Rapids. Grand Rapids holds the tie-breaker by sweeping the season series against the Brigade. Two other teams the Brigade will be watching closely are the Los Angeles Avengers (4-8) and the Colorado Crush (4-8). Kansas City will travel to Los Angeles and Colorado in the final two weeks of the season.
