
Bridgeport Loses Second in a Row

(Central Islip, N.Y. - May 27, 2012) - The Bridgeport Bluefish (16-14) split a four-game series against the Long Island Ducks (19-10) at Bethpage Ballpark after the road team suffered an 8-3 setback on Sunday.
Bridgeport stormed out to the lead in the fourth with a two-run shot from Brock Peterson. The blast to left field with nobody out gave the road squad a 2-0 lead; but Long Island came right back in the bottom of the inning. With one out and runners at first and third, Shawn Williams tripled to right to bring home both baserunners. Williams eventually scored on a sacrifice fly to center to give the Ducks a lead at 3-2.
The road team tied the score in the fifth. With runners at first and second and two outs, Brock Peterson served a single to left to plate the tying run.
The Ducks, though would put the game away in the sixth inning by pushing four more runs across. With a runner at second base, Reid Gorecki single to left to drive in the fourth run of the afternoon. Gorecki advanced to second on the throw home. Josh Johnson followed with an RBI double to left to bring Gorecki to the plate and extend the lead to two. Later in the inning, with runners at the corners, Bryant Nelson singled to right to increase the advantage to three. After a walk loaded the bases, a sacrifice fly to center by Brandon Sing gave the Ducks a four run edge.
Long Island tacked on one more run in the eighth to close the scoring.
Isaac Hess (2-2) took the loss for Bridgeport as the starter lasted five innings and surrendered six runs on seven hits and four walks while fanning three. Jonah Bayliss followed with two frames out of the bullpen while giving up a run on two hits and walks. Bayliss struck out a pair of Ducks hitters. Rommie Lewis tossed an inning and gave up one unearned run on a hit for Bridgeport.
Ducks hurler, Randy Keisler (3-1), earned the victory as the southpaw allowed three runs on six hits and four walks while striking out six Bluefish hitters. Jason Monti and Jeremy Hill combined for three scoreless on four hits three walks and three strikeouts out of the bullpen.
On a positive note, Prentice Redman extended his on-base streak to 27 in a row with an infield single in the seventh. He picked up two hits on the day.
Bridgeport returns to The Ballpark at Harbor Yard for a four-game series against the York Revolution on Memorial Day Monday. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. The gates open one hour before first pitch.
