Houston Dynamo FC News Release
Houston, TX (Monday, July 17, 2006) -Houston Dynamo forward Brian Ching was named to this year's MLS All-Star game-day roster, it was announced today by Major League Soccer.
Ching, not selected as part of the "First XI", will be the second player representing the Houston Dynamo at the 2006 Sierra Mist MLS All-Star Game. MLS All-Stars will play defending English Premiere League Champion Chelsea FC on Saturday, Aug. 5, at TOYOTA PARK in Bridgeview, Ill. The game will be televised live on ESPN at 5:30 p.m. CT.
"It's very exciting. The fact that I got selected is a great incentive to keep doing well, being aggressive on offense, and scoring goals. I feel very proud of having the opportunity of representing the Dynamo against Chelsea", said Ching.
Ching is Major League Soccer's second leading scorer, with 10 goals in 11 games played. He has also scored three goals in the team's last three games. Since his arrival from World Cup duty, Houston has a 2-3-0 record, which has helped it maintain its hold of the second spot in the Western Conference.
"His selection is well-deserved", said Dynamo head coach Dominic Kinnear. "(All-Star coach Peter Nowak) obviously took into account his scoring capability, and also the fact that this is a very talented player overall. I expect him to do well against Chelsea if given the chance to play."
"We are all very happy for Brian. He is our second representative in the All-Star Game, which is a great way to show the kind of talent we have on our team", said Dynamo President and General Manager Oliver Luck.
Tickets for the midsummer showcase range from $55-$125, and can be purchased at the TOYOTA PARK Box Office, located at 7000 S. Harlem Avenue, in Bridgeview, Ill. from 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. CT Monday-Friday, by calling TicketMaster at 312-559-1212 or visiting www.MLSnet.com.
