San Antonio Stars News Release
SAN ANTONIO - Silver Stars Assistant Coach Brian Agler will patrol the sidelines for San Antonio tonight as acting head coach against Minnesota while General Manager/Head Coach Dan Hughes recovers from surgery to repair a torn Achilles tendon.
Hughes underwent surgery to repair the torn tendon Thursday morning, and Agler stepped in to coach the team to Saturday's win over New York. Agler, former head coach and general manager of the Minnesota Lynx, also will take over head coaching duties during this weekend's contests at New York and Connecticut. Hughes will be re-evaluated by doctors before the Houston game next week.
While Agler manages coaching duties, Hughes will continue to run the day-to-day operations and general manager duties for the team. Agler, the American Basketball League Coach of the Year in 1997, spent 13 seasons as a head coach in the college ranks, posting an impressive 248-135 career mark.
