Boston Breakers News Release
Entering a crucial stretch of the season, the Breakers look to pick up a critical three points Saturday night at JELD-WEN Field against second-place Portland Thorns FC. The match takes place at 10:30 p.m. ET (see below for the link to the live stream).
The fifth-place Breakers are chasing fourth-place Western New York (6-3-4), and after Wednesday's draw coupled with WNY's 1-0 loss Thursday to the Chicago Red Stars, the Breakers (4-5-4) are currently six points back of the Flash and eight points behind third-place FC Kansas City (7-4-3).
Wednesday in Seattle, the Breakers fell behind, 1-0, early in the second half on a goal by the Reign's Jessica McDonald. But 12 minutes later, Sydney Leroux tied the match, hitting in a cross from Heather O'Reilly, to earn a point for the Breakers. With her goal, Leroux tied FC Kansas City's Lauren Cheney for the league lead in goals scored (8).
