Breakers strengthen defense with addition of Whitehill

The Boston Breakers have agreed to terms with defender Cat Whitehill, a 2004 Olympic gold medalist with the U.S. Women's National Team and three-year WPS veteran.

One of the most capped U.S. Women's National Team defenders with 134 appearances, Whitehill also scored 11 goals with the U.S. and played in the 2003 and 2007 FIFA Women's World Cups.

Whitehill began her WPS career in 2009 with the Washington Freedom. She played two seasons in Washington, starting all 42 games she appeared in. She started 17 games last season for the Atlanta Beat. Whitehill has four goal and four assists in WPS in 59 games played.

WPS Draft set for Jan. 13

With a deep and talented senior college class, the Boston Breakers have a number of options to choose from in the 2012 WPS Draft, which is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET on Friday, Jan. 13. The Breakers have picks No. 3, 11, 16, and 20.

The 2012 WPS Draft will take place at the 2012 NSCAA Convention in Kansas City, Mo. It will feature four rounds and a total of 23 picks. The Atlanta Beat have the No. 1 overall selection. Sky Blue FC has the No. 2 pick before the Breakers are on the clock at No. 3.

There are four different categories of season memberships. Category II seating ($190), which is located behind the benches, offers all of the previously mentioned benefits and one free seat cushion per ticket.

Category I ($250) includes all of the previously mentioned. These seats are located at midfield. And, we have Pitch Side for $690. This includes free parking in our VIP lot, a pre-game catered barbecue at every game, and field level seating alongside the pitch.
