Connect with Women's Professional Soccer at the NSCAA Convention

January 11, 2012 - Women's Professional Soccer (WPS) News Release


SAN FRANCISCO, CA (January 11, 2012)- Women's Professional Soccer (WPS) has expanded its presence at the annual National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Convention adding more ways for soccer coaches, partners and enthusiasts to connect with the United States' top-flight professional women's league.

The 2012 installment of the annual NSCAA convention will be hosted at the Kansas City Convention Center in Kansas City, Mo. on January 11-15. WPS will be a part of the action hosting a number of events for registered convention participants and friends of women's soccer.

In addition to the league's participation at the convention through its scheduled events, WPS will have a prominent presence throughout the week with league executives, owners, coaches and numerous players all planning to make the trip to Kansas City to take part in the convention.

FOX Soccer | Soccer Night in America Special: Soccer in the US, the Next Steps

LOCATION: Kansas City Convention Center / LIVE on FOX Soccer

TIME: 7-9 pm CT

For the sixth consecutive year, FOX Soccer will televise a live, two-hour show from the NSCAA Convention. The Center Circle show will feature a distinguished panel of guests - including WPS CEO Jennifer O'Sullivan (at 8:20 pm CT) - taking part in an in-depth discussion on the future of soccer in the United States.

Player Appearance / Autograph Signing with Kia McNeill

LOCATION: Kansas City Convention Center (Booth 202)

TIME: 7:30-8:30 pm CT

WPS will celebrate the opening of the NSCAA Convention alongside the NSCAA Women's Committee by hosting a meet and greet with WPS veteran and Philadelphia Independence stalwart Kia McNeill at the NSCAA booth inside the main exhibit hall.

The Social for Coaches of Female Athletes presented by WPS

LOCATION: Kansas City Convention Center, M - Count Basie A Ballroom

TIME: 9:30-11:30 pm CT

Join the NSCAA Women's Committee and WPS for the Social for Coaches of Female Athletes and spend the evening socializing with the tastemakers of women's soccer including WPS executives, coaches and players. The free social event is open to the public. The first 100 people to arrive will receive one free drink ticket.

2012 WPS Draft

LOCATION: Kansas City Convention Center

TIME: 1 pm CT

Women's Professional Soccer will again host its annual draft at the NSCAA Convention. The 2012 draft will give WPS' field of teams the opportunity to infuse their rosters with top new talent from the collegiate ranks. The fourth installment of the WPS Draft will consist of four rounds for a total of 23 selections made by the five WPS teams: Atlanta Beat, Boston Breakers, Philadelphia Independence, Sky Blue FC and Western New York Flash.

** The draft room is closed to the public, however, WPS fans around the country will have the chance to follow their favorite team's selections in real time on Twitter and via a live league webcast from the draft room in Kansas City, on www.WomensProSoccer.com. Registered participants of the NSCAA convention interested in viewing the draft can catch the live webcast at the NSCAA booth inside the Kansas City Convention Hall (Booth 202).
