Boston Breakers News Release

The Boston Breakers return to WPS action this weekend to start a key stretch of four games in 11 days when they host Saint Louis Athletica, Sunday at 6 p.m., in the second game of a doubleheader at Harvard Stadium. The match can be seen live on Fox Soccer Channel as this week's "WPS Sunday on FSC" match.

Prior to the Breakers and Athletica taking the field, the Boston Renegades will face the Long Island Rough Riders in W-League action at 2:30 p.m. One ticket is good for admission to both matches.

The Breakers and Athletica are level on points for third place in the WPS standings (3-3-2, 11 points), along with Boston's Wednesday opponent FC Gold Pride (3-5-2). All three teams are one point behind the second place Washington Freedom (3-3-3). The top four teams qualify for the playoffs, which start August 15.

The Breakers were upset in their last outing two weeks ago at Sky Blue FC, 2-1, which snapped a three-match unbeaten run. Kelly Smith added her team-leading fifth goal of the season, which now ranks second in the league behind Los Angeles' Camille Abily, who has six goals but has played in three more matches than Smith. The England international was subbed out just before halftime at Sky Blue FC due to a knee injury, but has been practicing with the team ever since and is expected to play on Sunday.
