Worcester Bravehearts News Release
Norwich, CT - The Worcester Bravehearts earned their fourth win in their last five games with a 8-1 victory over the Norwich Sea Unicorns on Sunday Evening. With the win, the Bravehearts move to 20-16 going into the all-star break.
Sebastian Salado (Palm Beach Atlantic) led off the scoring with a solo home run to left field in the second, giving the Bravehearts a 1-0 lead. Christian Siciliano (Southern Maine) added to that in the fourth with a double off the wall, and was brought in by Michael Perales (Amherst) to give Worcester their second run.
Norwich cut the lead in half in the bottom of the fifth on a fielder's choice off the bat of Treymayne Cobb (Hartford) which scored Kaeylen Culpepper (Kansas State).
The Bravehearts got two insurance runs in the top of the 8th inning. With the bases loaded and one out, Siciliano beat out a potential double play, which allowed Andrew Selima (Merrimack) to score from third. Dakota Harris (Polk State) then scored from second base after the Norwich first-baseman looked towards the umpire after the close play.
Worcester added another four runs in the ninth started by an El Rico Riley (Jackson State) double which scored Nick Martin (Westfield State). A triple by Harris brought in Riley and Selima, and a sac-fly by Salado brought in Harris.
The Bravehearts will be off until Thursday for the All-Star Break. Eleven Bravehearts will be represented on Tuesday during the All-Star Game. They return home on Thursday, July 15th at 10:30 am for a double header against the New Britain Bees.
