Worcester Bravehearts News Release
New Britain, Conn. - The Worcester Bravehearts defeated the New Britain Bees 4-2 Tuesday morning in New Britain.
The Bravehearts move to 4-1 with the win, while the Bees drop to 2-4.
Worcester jumped out to an early lead, scoring three runs in the top of the first. Three straight doubles by Gavin Noriega (Marist), Matt Livingston (Siena), and David Pedanou (Dayton) gave starter Jack Sefrino (Salem State) a three-run lead before he took the mound. The fourth run for the 'Hearts came in the sixth inning on a RBI single by Joe Pesce (Franklin Pierce).
New Britain's two runs came in the second and eighth innings.
Sefrino earned the win for the Bravehearts, recording five innings of work in which he allowed one run on six hits and two walks, while striking out five. Bees starter T.J. Wainwright was tagged with the loss after allowing three runs through 3.1 innings. Sean Scanlon (Holy Cross) was credited with a save on the afternoon.
The Bravehearts return to Worcester tomorrow to face the Brockton Rox. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
