
Bravehearts Split Series in Vermont

Worcester Bravehearts News Release
Burlington, VT - The Worcester Bravehearts were able to take down the defending champion Vermont Lake Monsters on Sunday night by a final score of 11-4. With the win, Worcester earns their first win in Vermont since June 3 of 2021.
Once again the Bravehearts got off to a hot start, scoring five runs in the first inning. Lewis Barnum (Bryant) got the scoring going with a two-run triple that scored Matty Warren (Palm Beach Atlantic) and Gavin Noriega (Marist). Cam Seymour (Southern Maine) followed with a home run to drive in Barnum and make the score 4-0. Later in the inning, Connor Peek (Holy Cross) singled in Sebastian Mexico (Fordham) who also reached on a single.
Vermont tacked on two runs to trim the lead to 5-2, but Worcester answered right back when Seymour provided two more runs batted in with a double scoring Barnum and Noriega.
Three more runs were added in the fifth inning for Worcester, extending their lead to 10-2. A Warren single scored Peek and Andrew Chronister (Shippensburg). Cam Caraher (SNHU) also scored in the inning on a wild pitch.
Worcester added another run in the sixth after a Caraher single scored Mexico.
'Hearts starter Clay Robbins (Southern Maine) picked up the win going six innings giving up three runs (two earned) and allowing six hits. Coleman Picard (Bryant) cleaned up the game going three innings allowing one run and one hit while striking out four.
The Bravehearts will head into the All-Star break three games out of a playoff spot. Eight Worcester Bravehearts have been selected to the All-Star Game which will be played in New Britain, CT on Tuesday. The 'Hearts players include Catcher Seymour, First Baseman Noriega, Outfielder Mexico, Outfielder Sal Grinstead (Palm Beach State), Designated Hitter TJ Wachter (Fordham), Starting Pitcher Kyle Rizy (Bryant), Infielder Jack Goodman (Pepperdine) and Infielder Jake Marquez (Maine).
On Wednesday the team will return home for a double-header against the Westfield Starfires. First pitch will be at 5 pm.
