Worcester Bravehearts News Release

PITTSFIELD, Mass. - After a remarkable walk off win at home on Sunday against the Suns, the Worcester Bravehearts (30-15) headed west to faceoff against those very same Pittsfield Suns (17-26). However, it was the Suns who come out swinging early and often to shutout the Bravehearts 11-0 at Waconah Park.

The Bravehearts sent out Trey Schramm (Xavier/Pingree Grove, IL) to the bump to take on the Suns lineup. Unfortunately, the Suns' bats torched Schramm for nine runs (eight earned) while giving up eight hits and three walks. Schramm lasted just three innings and took the loss for Worcester.

Pittsfield lead 3-0 after three innings, but it was in the bottom of the fourth inning that the Suns lit up the scoreboard with eight more runs. Outfielder Al Zachary (Eastern Connecticut State/Enfield, CT) lead the way by going 2-for-4 with two doubles and four RBIs. Every Suns starter had at least one hit in the game, while six total Suns batters recorded an RBI.

Jamin McCann (East Tennessee State/Kingsport, TN) had his best start of the season against Worcester tonight, as the Suns starter lasted eight shutout innings, giving up just two hits, walking one batter and striking out 10. He took the win for Pittsfield at home.

The Worcester Bravehearts next game is scheduled for Wednesday, July 27th at Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field against the Torrington Titans at 7:05PM. Tickets for all future Bravehearts home games are available at the Hanover Insurance Park box office, online at worcesterbravehearts.com, or by calling 508-438-3773.
