
Bravehearts Rally on Opening Day

Worcester, MA - The Worcester Bravehearts rallied late to defeat the Norwich Sea Unicorns 14-11 on Opening Day at Fitton Field Wednesday.
Trailing 11-6 in the bottom of the eighth, Worcester scored eight runs to take a lead they would not relinquish.
The 'Hearts got the scoring started in the bottom of the first when Tyler Bastunas (Drury) came home on a wild pitch. An RBI double from Vincent Eramo (Fitchburg State) then scored Jeremy Rosenberg (Anna Maria) in the second.
Norwich cut the deficit in half in the top of the third on a Johnny Knox (Nichols) RBI single that scored CJ Egrie (Holy Cross).
A four-run top of the sixth propelled Norwich to a 5-3 lead, with all four runs coming across with two outs.
In the bottom of the inning, Marc Willi (Michigan) tied the game on a two-run home run that also scored Bastinas.
The Sea Unicorns took back the lead with a five-run eighth. DJ Perron (UMass Dartmouth) drove in Max Roffwarg (Swarthmore) on a single. Perron and Egrie would also come in on an RBI single by Connor Cooke (Brown). A passed ball scored Andrew Bianco (New Haven), and Cooke scored on a sacrifice fly to give Norwich an 11-6 lead.
Kobe Stenson (Siena) led off the bottom of the eighth being hit by a pitch, after which Bastunas singled Stenson in. A three-run home run by Willi then cut the deficit to 11-10. Caden Dulin (Rowan) scored to tie the game when Eramo was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. The go-ahead base hit came from Stenson, whose two-run single scored Rosenberg and Limón. Eramo scored on a wild pitch, giving the Bravehearts a 14-11 advantage.
Sean Ryan (Nichols) got the win, going 0.2 innings, allowing two earned runs on one hit while walking one and striking out one. Norwich reliever Matthew Reyes (Louisburg) picked up the loss, giving up three earned runs in 0.2 innings on a hit, walking one and striking out one. The Bravehearts' Dennis Colleran (Northeastern) pitched a scoreless ninth inning to record the save.
The Bravehearts are on the road Thursday morning against the Westfield Starfires with first pitch set for 10:30.
