Worcester Bravehearts News Release
WORCESTER, Mass. - The Bravehearts (27-11) picked up a much-needed win on Monday night over the Navigators (19-21). After suffering a pair of losses in Brockton, they ended their three-game road trip with the 4-3 victory. Zack Tower (Franklin Pierce/Auburn, MA) got the start for Worcester and threw two scoreless innings. Tower recorded two strikeouts and a walk, giving up only two hits. Brady Furdon (Wheaton College/Natick, MA) then pitched five innings of relief, eventually receiving the win.
He allowed two runs to score on six hits and added four strikeouts in addition to a walk. Peter Bovenzi (Richmond/Lunenburg, MA) earned the save after pitching the final two innings, conceding one run on two hits while tallying four strikeouts and two walks. On offense, the Bravehearts' hitting finally got back on track. They plated three runs on the North Shore starter, Bobby Tramondozzi (UMass Boston/Peabody, MA), and added what would ultimately be the game-winning run on Navigators' reliever, Brian Burke (Curry College/Swampscott, MA). Each of Worcester's four runs were scored in a different inning early along in the game, so various parts of the Bravehearts' batting order were responsible for obtaining the 4-0 lead. Ryan Ward (Bryant/Millbury, MA) was one of the many Bravehearts to experience success at the plate, hitting himself safely on base three times in his four at bats, and scoring a run. North Shore scored three runs in the final three innings, but it would not be enough to overcome the deficit, and the Bravehearts won 4-3. The Worcester Bravehearts' next home game will be on Tuesday, July 19th at 7:05 p.m. against the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs. Tickets for this and all future Bravehearts home games are available at the Hanover Insurance Park box office, online at worcesterbravehearts.com, or by calling 508- 438-3773.
