Worcester Bravehearts News Release

BROCKTON, Mass. - The Worcester Bravehearts lost their second game in a row by failing to the Rox 3-2 on Wednesday evening, in their final game against Brockton this season. This makes the Bravehearts overall record for the season 25-34.

The Rox took an early lead in the bottom of the second when Noah Jankowski (Bates) scored on a passed ball thrown by the Bravehearts' Nick Choate (Anna Maria), and when Joe Bova (Univ. of Southern Maine) scored on a sacrifice-fly.

The Bravehearts put themselves on the scoreboard for the first time soon after, when in the top of the third Matty Warren (Palm Beach Atlantic) scored on a wild pitch thrown by the Rox's Nico Gaudio (Post).

The Rox widened the lead in the bottom of the fifth when Peter Messervy (Harvard) scored on a passed ball, which ultimately was the final run the Rox scored.

Worcester started to tighten the gap late in the game, when Jake Marquez (Maine) hit a solo home run off of the Rox's Frankie Murphy (Vassar) in the eighth, the Bravehearts' only earned run of the game. However, this proved to not be enough to beat Brockton.

The losing pitcher was Choate, who let up two runs in 3.2 innings, as well as two hits. The winning pitcher was deemed Dominac Chieffalo (Scranton), who pitched three innings and let up two hits and no runs.

The Bravehearts will take on the Vermont Lake Monsters at Vermont's home stadium, Centennial Field, for a two-game series starting tomorrow. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
