
Bravehearts Blinded by Suns

PITTSFIELD, MA- The Bravehearts lost 14-4 to the Pittsfield Suns on Wednesday, making their overall record for the season 15-20.
The Suns managed to push a run across in the bottom of the third inning, making the score 1-0.
The Bravehearts retaliated in the top of the fourth inning, scoring a run of their own on back-to- back doubles to tie up the score at 1-1. The Suns battled back in the bottom of the inning, scoring four more runs to retake the lead and make the score 5-1. The Bravehearts came back in the top half of the sixth inning and scored a run of their own. However, the Suns continued to widen their lead in the bottom of the fifth and sixth innings, pushing across two more runs to make the score 7-2. The Bravehearts scored two more runs in the top of the seventh inning when Cam Seymour (Southern Maine) hit a homerun over the center field wall. The Suns scored another seven runs in the top of the eighth inning to mercy the Bravehearts 14-4.
The Bravehearts went through several pitchers throughout the game. Losing pitcher Joe Hauser (Northeastern) started for the Bravehearts. Hauser walked three batters and got six strikeouts for the Bravehearts before he left the game due to an injury in the bottom of the fourth inning. He was relieved by Worcester native, Gavin Price (Fairleigh Dickinson University). Price pitched for one inning and got one strikeout before he was also relieved by Tyson Luna (Amherst). Will Rodman (Oklahoma Christian) came in to pitch in the bottom of the sixth and walked one batter before being replaced with Tommy Leimkuhler (Holy Cross). Leimkuhler was replaced in the same inning by Nate Novia (AIC) who was also then replaced by Nick Giattino (Amherst).
The Bravehearts' next game will be in Brockton, MA on Thursday, July 7th at 7:00 p.m. against the Brockton Rox. The 'Hearts will return home on Saturday, July 9th to face off against the Brockton Rox at 1:00 p.m.
