Worcester Bravehearts News Release
Worcester, MA - The Worcester Bravehearts lost their sixth straight game on Saturday night, falling 10-0 to the Norwich Sea Unicorns. The team falls below .500 for the first time since losing their first game of the season back on May 26th.
Nick Giattino (Amherst) got the start for Worcester and was roughed up early. The righty allowed a walk, hit-by-pitch and a single, allowing Norwich to take a 1-0 lead in the first. A groundout by Hunter Yaworski (Mitchell College) allowed another run to score for the Sea Unicorns to take a quick 2-0 lead. Norwich plated 3 more runs in the third highlighted by a Jackson Ferigno triple. Ferigno would then come into score on a wild pitch to make the score 5-0. Giattino finished the night allowing 5 runs in 1 1/3 innings pitched.
The Sea Unicorns continued in the fourth with a two-run home run by Sean Swenson (Quinnipiac) to make the score 7-0. Another run in the fifth was added after Bravehearts center fielder Matty Warren (Palm Beach Atlantic) dropped what would have been the third out. Two more runs came home in the eighth to give Norwich an early mercy-rule victory.
The Bravehearts will return home tomorrow to take on the Brockton Rox. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
