Worcester, MA - The Worcester Bravehearts came from behind twice to beat the Pittsfield Suns 7-4. The win brings the Bravehearts record to 19-16. The exciting back and forth game was broadcast on NESN.
The Suns opened the scoring when Joel Lara (Franklin Pierce) scored on a Sean McLeod single. Bravehearts starting pitcher, North Grafton native Jack Choate (Assumption), would settle in after that. He only allowed two hits over 4.2 innings, and struck out five batters.
Kenny Mallory Jr. (Vanderbilt), Randy Flores (Franklin Pierce), and El Rico Riley (Jackson State) led off the third inning with singles to load the bases for Worcester. Flores and Riley would score on a Dakota Harris (Polk State) single. Harris would later score on an Andrew Selima (Merrimack) single, one of his three hits on the day. He also reached base on a hit-by-pitch.
Both teams scored three runs in the fifth inning. The Suns took the lead on a three-run home run by Nick Romano (Central Florida). In the bottom half of the inning the Bravehearts fought back with an RBI double by Riley. Riley would score on a wild pitch later in the inning. The final run in the fifth came on a ground out by Alex Neff (Dayton). The Bravehearts added an insurance run in the eighth inning on a Riley sacrifice fly.
