Worcester, MA - The Worcester Bravehearts defeated the Norwich Sea Unicorns 12-2 in mercy-rule fashion Sunday afternoon at Fitton Field.

The win, the fourth in a row for the Bravehearts, moves Worcester to 26-31, even with Norwich, who also sits at 26-31 with the loss.

The 'Hearts set the tone early with a five-run first inning. A two-run home run by Gavin Noriega (Marist) scored Lewis Barnum (Bryant) to put Worcester on the board. Cam Seymour (Southern Maine) added to the lead with a sacrifice fly that brought home Jake Marquez (Maine). A bases-loaded walk forced in Cam Caraher (Southern New Hampshire), with David Pedanou (Dayton) scoring on a wild pitch. In the second, Noriega came through for Worcester again with an RBI triple, scoring Barnum.

Four more runs came across for the Bravehearts in the third. Pedanou scored on another wild pitch, after which another Noriega triple brought in both Matt Livingston (Siena) and Mark Darakjy (Northeastern). Noriega would come in on a Marquez RBI single.

Seymour tacked on another run in the sixth with a solo home run, and an RBI ground-rule double in the seventh by Marquez would score Noriega yet again. That gave Worcester a 10-run lead, ending the game early per Futures League rules.

Norwich scored a run apiece in the third and seventh innings. An RBI single in the third by CJ Willis (Western New England) brought home Cameron Maldonado (Northeastern), and Zac Zyons (Bryant) would score in the seventh on an error.

Bravehearts starter Clay Robbins (Southern Maine) got the win, going six innings while giving up just one earned run on five hits and a walk while striking out six. Zach Lopez (Salve Regina) took the loss for Norwich. In a third of an inning, Lopez gave up four earned runs on four hits with no walks or strikeouts.

The Bravehearts have an off-day Monday before returning to Fitton Field Tuesday to face the New Britain Bees, with the first pitch set for 6:30.
