
Brannon Leads Cats To 5-4 Win Over Rocket / Brannon M=e8ne

A hat trick by team captain Scott Brannon led the Moncton Wildcats to a 5-4 victory over the PEI Rocket in front of 4272 fans on Friday night at the Coliseum.
The Rocket scored the only goal of the first period; Chris Doyle with his ninth of the season beat Louis Domingue at 17:21.
The Wildcats stormed back in the second, Ted Stephens got the equalizer at 3:29 from Matt Bissonette and Scott Brannon. David Savard put the Cats out in front at 8:40, goalie Louis Domingue with his fourth assist of the year along with Matt Brown set up the play. Joel Champagne tied the game at 10:19 with Currie and Casavant assisting. Josh Currie put the Rocket in front 3-2 at 11:40, Champagne and Casavant got the helpers. Brannon with his first of three tied the score at 12:47 on a great pass from Brandon Gormley. Brannon gave the Cats a 4-3 lead at 14:20 with a short-handed marker.
The teams exchanged goals in the final 20 minutes. PEI tied it at 12:53 with Casavant's goal from Champagne and Currie. Less than two minutes later, Brannon netted the hat trick and the game winner on a pass from David Savard.
The Wildcats out shot the Rocket 47-22. On the power play, PEI went 0 for 4, while Moncton was 0 for 5.
Brannon was named the first star, Joel Champagne of the Rocket was the second star and David Savard of the Cats got the nod as star number three.
The Wildcats meet the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles on Sunday afternoon at 4 at Coliseum. The pre-game ceremony will feature an appearance by the Olympic torch which will be officially lit in Moncton on Monday night.
