SEASON SERIES: Tonight's game is the third of seven this season between the Brahmas and the Blazers; it is also the front end of a weekend home and home series as Oklahoma City will travel to Ft. Worth tomorrow (Sun. Dec. 29) to take on the Brahmas. ... Oklahoma City has defeated the Brahmas in both of their previous matchups this year, winning by identical 6-3 scores on Friday, Nov. 15 and Saturday, Dec. 14...Both games were played at the Ford Center in Oklahoma City.
FORT WORTH NOTES: The Brahmas suffered another frustrating loss last night, falling on home ice to the Tulsa Oilers by a 2-1 score...Ft. Worth held a 1-0 lead entering the third period of play only to see Tulsa's Jamie Steer and Todd Marcellus score consecutive goals and give the Oilers the win...Center Joe Van Volsen scored the only Brahmas goal in the game to increase his team leading point total to 28 (8G/20A)...Goaltender Matt Mullin was magnificent in the game for the Brahmas, allowing just one goal against on the 28 shots he faced...Defenseman Mike McKinnon and Sean Hughes both returned to the Ft. Worth lineup last night after missing consecutive games with injury.
OKLAHOMA CITY NOTES: The Blazers downed the Amarillo Gorillas at the Ford Center last night to win for the third game in a row...Four different Oklahoma City players scored goals in the game while goaltender Boyd Ballard stopped 28 of the 29 Gorillas shots he faced...Oklahoma City continues to be led this season by the ageless Joe Burton...Burton has a team high 22 goals and 39 points...D-man Hardy Sauter leads the Blazers and the entire CHL in assists with 32...The Blazers 11 wins on home ice are the second most in the CHL behind only Tulsa's 12.
NEXT UP FOR THE BRAHMAS: The scene for the Brahmas and the Blazers battle tomorrow night switches to the Ft. Worth Convention Center. Oklahoma City will make their first trip of the season to Ft.
