Brahmas Set Blaze In Oklahoma City

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (March 9) -A back to back rematch of the Texas Brahmas and Oklahoma City Blazers result in a firing squad of goals in the third by Brahmas offense in 5-1 win.

A scoreless first had the Brahmas firing hard on the net of Blazers goaltender Jason Wolfe with 18 shots. The Blazers responded with only 6 shots on Brahmas goaltender David Cacciola and 6 minutes in penalties.

The third started slow for Oklahoma City with the Blazers receiving a delay of game for arriving late to the ice at the start of the period. Blazers forward Marty Standish scored a short handed goal at 14:08 with the help of Stacey Bauman. The Brahmas continued to play a steady game with 9 shots but was not able to land a point.

Texas came alive in the third with two goals from Kevin Korol and Tyler Skworchinski leading the Brahmas offense into a five goal explosion. Oklahoma City received a hard hit at 5:36 when head coach Doug Sauter was ejected with a game misconduct. Scott Sheppard and Greg McConnell added fuel to the fire of shots on Wolfe by scoring goals: 23 a part. The exciting six minutes of play was topped off with a final goal by Skworchinski at 9:00.

The Brahmas continue the run for the playoffs at NYTEX Sports Centre on Tuesday against the Odessa Jackalopes at 7:05 PM. The Brahmas will once again face the Oklahoma City Blazers on Sunday, March 16 for Fan Appreciation Night at 3:05 PM. This is the last home game for the Brahmas of the regular season.
