
Beech Blanks Thunder 6-0 In Hounds Final Road Game

WICHITA, KANSAS - Kevin Beech pitched his second shutout as a SteelHound and fourth of the season (two with Laredo) as the Hounds defeated the Wichita Thunder 6-0 on Sunday night. The Hounds finish the road portion of their season 19-11-2 and earned five out of a possible six points (2-0-1) on the final trip of the regular season. The Hounds improve to 34-19-5 (73 points) and are tied with the Rocky Mountain Rage for the third seed in the Northern Conference playoff picture.
Hounds scored early and often in the first period as four goals in 12:58 got Wichita rookie goaltender Adam Dekker pulled. Eric Przepiorka scored his first of two (24, 25 on season) on the night at 2:58. Chris Richards added a shorthanded goal at 9:17 to make it 2-0. Richards has a team best 71 points and extended his point streak to six games. Petr Pohl scored his first of two (22, 23 on season) at 11:28 to make it 3-0. Bryan Lachapelle capped the first period scoring at 12:58 to make it 4-0 after one.
Bill Zaniboni fared a little better in relief of his rookie goaltender as he made 23 saves on 25 shots but gave up goals from Pohl at 4:39 and Przepiorka at 13:32 to finish the scoring 6-0. The Hounds out shot Wichita 37-21 for the game as Kevin Beech pitched Youngstown's second shutout of the year.
Przepiorka and Pohl each had two goals and an assist while Lachapelle had a goal and two assists. Youngstown had nine players score at least one point and five who had scored two or more. Brad Patterson picked up his first point (assist) since returning to the team on Friday and rookie Tyler Wooddisse extended his assist streak to three games.
The Hounds return home for the final six games of the season starting Friday night when they begin a three game series with the Laredo Bucks. Friday night's face-off is 7:05 with the second set of Hounds trading cards courtesy of Pegasus Printing Group being given away and the Hounds will wear special St. Patrick's Day jerseys.
