Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (January 27)-The Texas Brahmas only needed one period to put away the Corpus Christi Rayz 5-2 in a matinee game Sunday at the NYTEX Sports Centre.

Texas had sharp shooter Scott Sheppard back in the lineup along with newest additions Ty Hennes and Brent MacSween, and all three players presence was shown.

In the opening period the Rayz were called for six penalties and the Brahmas two, but Brahmas goaltender Brett Jaeger stole the show with some spectacular saves. Texas was unable to convert on the 4 on 3 man advantage, but were able to outshoot the Rayz 7-4.

The Brahmas came back from the first intermission ready to present their best offensive skills for the fans at NYTEX. Sheppard started the scoring with a powerplay goal in the first minute in the period followed by All Star defenseman, Justin Kinnunen's brilliant goal at the 4:57 mark.

Texas took advantage once again on a powerplay opportunity when Jordan Cameron put the puck in the back of goaltender Jason Tapp's net from Tyler Skworchinski and Craig Minard. It was Cameron's sixth powerplay goal of the season. Brahmas captain Blair Manning wanted in on the goal scoring action and did so by beating Tapp two minutes later. The grand finale for the Brahmas matinee was a Ty Hennes goal from Manning at the end of the second period.

Goaltender Jaeger was shaken up four minutes within the second period, resulting in David Cacciola to come in relief. Cacciola only let in a pair of goals for the game on 22 shots faced to earn the win.

The Brahmas next game is Wednesday at 7:05 PM against the Oklahoma City Blazers at the NYTEX Sports Centre. All Fort Worth and North Richland Hills residents will be offered a $5 ticket when they present a proof of residency at the Brahmas Box Office at the NYTEX Sports Centre. The gesture is a thank you to former Brahmas fans and a welcome to new fans in North Richland Hills. Along with the crucial conference game, participants will be able to enjoy fun off-ice activities. For ticket information please contact the Brahmas Box Office at (817) 336-4423.
