Brahmas Offense 'Booms': Sign Greg Hogeboom for 2010-11
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (August 20)-The Brahmas of the Central Hockey League (CHL) will look for an offensive explosion this season as they inked reputable scorer Greg Hogeboom as their eleventh man on the 2010-11 roster Friday afternoon.
Hogeboom will enter his seventh professional year as he joins the Brahmas for the 2010-11 campaign. Last season the high scoring center put up 59 points (32 G, 27 A) in 72 games with the Ontario Reign of the ECHL, his third year in the East Coast. Prior to playing with the Reign, Hogeboom played two seasons overseas with Visp and Thurgau registering career high numbers. With the Visp in 2007-08, the Etobicoke, ONT native had 76 points (39 G, 37 A) in 49 games. The following year Hogeboom had 36 points (18 G, 18 A) in 40 games as a member with Thurgau.
The 28-year-old forward has seen time on the ice with the Manchester Monarchs (AHL) in four seasons, accumulating 22 points (10 G, 12 A) in 74 games. Hogeboom played two prolific seasons with the Reading Royals of the ECHL (2005-07) averaging over a point a game with 101 points (39 G, 62 A) in 73 games.
The LA Kings (NHL) fifth round draftee in the 2002 played four seasons with Miami University (Ohio) of the NCAA before turning pro. From 2000-2004, Hogeboom collected 120 points (65 G, 55 A) in 156 games for the Redhawks.
Brahmas Head Coach Dan Wildfong believes Hogeboom will fit nicely in the Brahmas system.
"Greg is a player who has proven to have offensive skill, but aside from his play on the puck, he is the type of forward who can be held accountable on both sides of the ice," said Wildfong.
Hogeboom and the Brahmas open the 2010-11 year on the road but will host their home opener Friday, October 22. On Friday October 10, the Brahmas will host the Allen Americans for a little preseason action with all tickets to the 7:30 PM game just $10.
