Brahmas Notebook: November 16-17 vs. Corpus Christi

November 15, 2018 - North American Hockey League (NAHL) - Lone Star Brahmas News Release

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX - After picking up four points this past weekend against the Shreveport Mudbugs, the team bus is headed south for a two-game set in Corpus Christi.

Puck Drop The Brahmas and IceRays play on Friday, November 16th and Saturday, November 17th. Both puck drops this weekend are set for 7:05 PM CST.

If you are making the trip down to Corpus Christi, single game tickets can be purchased here.

If you can't make it to the game, a video stream will be available on Hockey TV and you can listen to the radio broadcast with Sports Radio Corpus Christi.

Last Time We Met... The Brahmas and IceRays have met just once this season so far, playing a weekend series back in October. Those two games were also played at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, and the teams split the results.

The Brahmas got the better of the IceRays in the first game, with rookie forward Nick Siffringer scoring a late third period goal that would stand as the game-winner in a 3-1 victory. Harrison Feeney made 26 saves in the win.

Corpus Christi came away with a 3-2 win the second night, despite a strong two-goal effort from Brahmas leading scorer Matt Guerra.

Quick Notes

This is the first time the two teams are meeting since swapping forwards Jack Sampson and Noah Roofe. Roofe has a goal and two assists since the trade. Sampson has recorded an assist with the IceRays.

The Brahmas' power play has been mired in a dry spell for the last few weekends - they finally converted late on Saturday against the Shreveport Mudbugs, with 6 skaters on the ice. They'll be hoping to keep that going. The potential return of Michal Stinil, who has factored into 42% of Brahmas power play goals, should help immensely.

Conversely, the Brahmas penalty kill has been and continues to be very good. With a kill percentage of 86.6%, Lone Star boasts the best penalty kill in the South Division and the third best kill in the league. He Said It "I think we just have to play fast like Dan says. We have to generate offense obviously, and that comes from defense first. We want to stay out of the box for sure. Corpus has a pretty good power play, they've been rolling down there, so staying disciplined is huge. We want to stay positive, we can't be negative in the locker room because that feeds onto the ice. If we're upbeat in the locker room and on the bench, encouraging each other, we should be good."
